Grilling a perfect pork chop

A guide on how to grill the perfect pork chop

Ever wondered what else to cook chuck roast into besides beef roast in the crock pot? Me too! Don’t get me wrong, a beef roast is comforting on a blistery fall or winter day. However, I also want to use up some rump roasts when the weather is warm, and I don’t feel like eating beef stew.

What you’ll need:

  • 1” (or thicker!) High Plains Harvest bone-in or boneless pork chops (pro tip- get them to room temp before cooking so they cook more evenly)

  • Salt + Pepper

  • Any other seasoning you desire.

    • *We recommend Kosmos Q Killer Honey Rub for pork! Honestly, any of their rubs and BBQs are great! (We are not affiliated- we just really like their products)

  • Meat thermometer

Directions:

1. Fire up your grill of choice! Chops cook pretty fast, so cooking over indirect heat (charcoal) or on

a “low” setting (gas) may help you not overcook them.

2. Set room temperature chops on the grill and grab your beverage of choice!

3. Cook a few minutes on each side before taking the temperature…but be sure it’s just a few

minutes! You can always keep turning if they aren’t to temperature yet.

4. I cannot stress this enough- USE A MEAT THERMOMETER! When the chops hit 145 degrees, pull

from the heat, and let rest on a plate.

5. ENJOY!

The *key* to the perfect pork chop is essentially not overcooking it. Pork is 100% safe when cooked to 145 degrees. It’s crucial to not go over much, otherwise, you will start to get dry, tough meat. Another *key* is to not use too thin of pork chops! 1 inch or more is perfect. When cooked to 145 degrees, you will get a juicy, tender pork chop every time! Do yourself a favor -if you haven’t already- and get yourself a meat thermometer! You can find ones for under $20 on Amazon. I promise you it’ll be a staple kitchen tool in no time! (Not affiliated)
